Now that normal travel has resumed, tourists again flock to California to visit its gorgeous beaches and mountains. While visiting, you’ll probably notice the many cannabis dispensaries advertising THC concentrates California loves.
Since January 1, 2018, adults aged 21 and older can legally use and possess small amounts of cannabis, also called marijuana in California. The law, Proposition 64, passed in 2016, makes it legal to possess up to eight grams of concentrated cannabis.
It’s Still Illegal for Those Under 21
Possessing more than eight grams constitutes a misdemeanor that could land you in county jail for up to six (6) months. If an individual hasn’t yet reached the age of 21 and possesses any concentrated cannabis, it constitutes a misdemeanor.
You can legally shop for concentrated cannabis, also referred to as resin or hashish, from licensed businesses in California. Making it yourself or distributing it without a license remains illegal. Many licensed firms create high-quality resin products from various strains of marijuana, including Sativa and Indica. You can purchase either purified or crude resin which contains tetrahydrocannabinol (THC).
When Used by Medical Prescription
California law does allow individuals with a medical prescription for marijuana to possess concentrated cannabis without the eight-gram limit. These individuals may also grow the plant so long as they abstain from using chemical solvents, including butane.
